A very enjoyable and well attended event was held on the grounds of the Old Vocational School, now the Education & Training Board, Adult Education Centre la.
In September 2012 Jim McSharry wrote to his old school The Line School on Pearse Road, now renamed Our Lady of Mercy Primary School, asking if they had any photos of his time at the school in the 1940s.
He received a prompt reply from the Deputy Principal Olivia Flannery who told him that the name of the school in the 1940s was Clocar Naomh Padraig - St Patrick s Convent; that he had started there in 1945 and there were 44 boys in the Low Infants class. She couldn t find any class photos but asked the school caretaker to see if there was anything stored in the school attic. Eventually, two photo albums were found, one of which was scanned by Alec Foley.
