Granville Schools Superintendent Jeff Brown has shared a vision for “a return to normalcy” with face-coverings becoming an option rather than a requirement for the next school year.
Brown offered a glimpse of the coming 2021-22 recommended school year plan, and how COVID-19 is likely to affect those plans for what will at least likely begin as a third calendar school year under the pandemic.
Brown began his May 17 presentation by assessing current conditions within the district.
“I’m really happy to report that over the last week, we’ve had zero cases of COVID in the school district” among staff or students, he said. “We have been trending in the right direction.”

Spring and summer in Granville may look a bit more like they did in 2019 than last year if current COVID-19 trend-lines continue.
In a monthly stakeholders’ COVID-19 virtual meeting, Granville-area officials discussed the likely return of proms, in-person graduations, familiar summer events and community concerts as COVID-19 infection rates continue to decline and the numbers of those vaccinated in the community rise.
Last year, various concerts and annual staples such as the July 4th parade and downtown festival, among many others, were scrubbed by pandemic conditions and some students had to make-do with virtual commencements and no proms or homecoming dances.
