Santa Rosa City Schools are approving a study to consider unifying any or all of the 8 elementary districts that feed into their own middle and high schools. The Press Democrat reports the district’s board of trustees approved the study last month which would direct Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools Steve Herrington to hire a firm to conduct the study. $200,000 in total have been set aside for this consolidation study and another being done for West Sonoma County Union. These studies come as districts across the county struggle to retain students, as the County reports a 5% decrease of students in the past five years.
