PLYMOUTH – When the pandemic hit and schools closed last March, leaders of the Boys & Girls Club of Plymouth feared for the worst, but recognized their unique opportunity to help.
Taking stock of resources and embracing their mission to serve children, Director Garreth Lynch and his team answered the governor’s call to offer childcare so first responders could do their jobs during the health crisis.
Within two days, the club’s staff had put together a COVID-19 childcare plan and had gotten it inspected and approved by state education officials. On Monday, March 23, while most of the state and country was still getting used to concept of living in lockdown and before school even resumed lessons, the Club opened for 40 students.
