With a master s degree in educational leadership from Saint Leo University, Brown is a third- and fourth-grade English language arts teacher at Wildwood Elementary. She is passionate about supporting her students academically through the positive relationships she has built with each of them.
“Ms. Brown’s dedication and contributions of time, effort, and talent to our students are exceptional, Sumter County School Superintendent Richard Shirley said.
Brown also serves as the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) site member for her school, is the district English language arts representative, and established the Reading Superstars program to recognize students making outstanding gains.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jim Schmitt, who teaches history and global perspectives and research at Mandarin High School and was named the 2021 VyStar Duval County Teacher of the Year, is a 2022 Florida Teacher of the Year state finalist.
K-12 Public Schools Chancellor Jacob Oliva and Deputy Chancellor for Educator Quality Dr. Paul Burns from the Florida Department of Education made the announcement during a surprise visit to Mandarin High on Tuesday.
