Local schools differ on remote learning recommendation

Local schools differ on remote learning recommendation Area districts are taking different approaches learning at the high school level following a recommendation last week from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to shift high schools to remote learning. With COVID-19 cases, hospitalization and positivity rate rising across the state, Whitmer recommended high schools shift to remote learning for two weeks, but did not require such a move.  Approaches from local schools range from adhering to the recommendation and shifting online for two weeks, opting for remote learning for one week, or staying in-person for the time being. Holland and Black River both announced Friday afternoon they would switch to remote learning for two weeks. Black River also shifted middle school students to remote learning because staff members teach at both the middle and high school levels.
