Close to 3,000 children attending elementary school across Waterloo Region were suspended from school on Wednesday morning for not having up-to-date immunization records.
“We don’t want to suspend,” says Dr. David Aoki with Waterloo Region Public Health. “We want to get them up-to-date and also remind parents you need to get this shot. It’s important.”
Region of Waterloo Public Health reported Wednesday morning that 2,969 elementary students have been suspended because of out-of-date vaccination records. The records must be updated under the Immunization of School Pupils Act.
