It’s a difficult time for policing in the UK. Handling the unusual circumstances surrounding both the Sarah Everard tragedy and subsequent police actions, were always going to be a challenge for the Metropolitan force. The Clapham Common inquiry has concluded, “nothing to see here, move along”, but the images of what happened that evening will linger. The police also came under attack, literally, in Bristol when dealing with protests against The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, parts of which will apply in Scotland.
