Apparently trying to cross this section of branch avenue when she was struck by a Metro Transit Police cruiser and suffered severe injuries as a result. Medics Metro Transit Police supervisors and pgpd all responded. The woman was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A spokesperson for Metro Transit Police tells me the officer involved was driving in routine status not responding to emergency calls and lights and sirens were not active. Were also told this incident did not happen at an intersection, a crosswalk or a stoplight. This is a multilane highway but many residents admit they, too have jaywalked here to get to the metro station or nearby convenience stores. The timing and the lights sometimes are too long and if youre clear to go through, sometimes you do. Its bad to do it but yeah, i have. Many trucks deployed this morning as when we saw 14 inches of snow two weeks ago. This mornings commute was a disaster. Lets show you what google maam showed for traffic on the beltway at 8 18 a. M. See all that red there . We heard reports of standstills on 62 of the 67 miles of beltway. It apparently started with a minor accident on the American Legion bridge.
