Justice Sinha stated that only advocates representing the parties involved would be permitted in the courtroom and said that the Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED) could join the hearing virtually.
The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday said that it cannot "gag" media reports concerning TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee and his wife, Rujira Banerjee, even though many of such reports were outrightly defamatory.
Single-judge Justice Amrita Sinha pulled up the ED for not properly investigating the school jobs for cash scam case, particularly the involvement of Banerjee in the scam.
The Calcutta High Court, however, declined to quash the ED case against the TMC leader in the matter, opining that Abhishek Banerjee's petition to quash the same was premature.
The ED told the Calcutta High Court that it does not intend to use the 16 files downloaded from the computer of a firm linked to Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee as evidence in any probe against him.
