Initial implementation of milk feeding program shows promising outcome

QUEZON CITY, March 12   The initial implementation of the milk feeding program, led by the Department of Education (DepEd) through the help of 30 assisted cooperatives of DA-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC), had supplied the milk requirements of 503,955 undernourished children in 2019, which is equivalent to 26.12% of the total number of beneficiaries nationwide. During the Central Office’s visit to the Schools Division of Rizal and Antipolo City, DepEd-Bureau of Learner Support Service (BLSS) OIC Director Lope Santos III explained how schools and local food producers coordinate to provide food commodities to the learners under the SBFP. Santos explained that small and medium enterprises that supply nutritious food products to students were certified and accredited Department of Science and Technology – Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI).
