the age to 21 to buy a gun red flag laws which have been used 9000 times, three day waiting periods and hundreds of millions of dollars for school resource officers, mental health and school hardening if we can do that, in florida, rick scott signed that bill became a u. s senator. if we can do that, in florida, we can do that in washington. scott, a republican, but president biden in the wake of this is calling on congress to pass an assault weapons ban. all eyes turned to the halls of congress when something like this happens, but if democrats could not get that assault weapons ban passed when they controlled both chambers. how do you do it now? when republicans control the house? well, look, i m obviously it s even more difficult. and so, look, i think we need to institute the assault weapons ban, but we also can t be afraid to do smaller things. everything we do is about mitigating this event and mitigating this crisis in this country. and so look if we can go out and pass a bill t
again, not just in uvalde, but across the state. there is certainly, when you talk about school hardening in texas, because the republicans like to pat themselves on the back, we spent $100 million in 2019, just last summer we spent $4 million on this operation, on this failed operation lone star. by the way, 91 of its officers were at this school, and so that tells you a little bit about how they have failed in their bid of community policing. we have a lot to do for school safety. and a long way to go. texas state senator roland guiterrez, thank you for your time today. thank you so much. coming up, the u.s. secret service is under growing scrutiny, investigators have connected ten personnel to the missing text messages sent around the day of the insurrection. details straight ahead.
