INDIAN RIVER COUNTY The school district and local NAACP are realigning their efforts to satisfy a decades-old federal desegregation order, and they re asking the court to give its blessing.
Both sides are required to submit quarterly progress reports to U.S. District Court detailing advancements or setbacks related to the desegregation order. The next report is due Monday.
The objectives, agreed upon by both the district and the NAACP, include revisiting recommendations presented by the district s Equity Committee in 2019 and drafting goals aligned to those; the School Board approving and adopting those goals; and charging Superintendent David Moore with implementing those objectives.
