Welcome to the 2019 mississippi book festival. This morning we celebrate the fifth anniversary of her literary long party. [applause] we are honored to have so many distinguished authors and friends join our celebration from the Mississippi State capital. Today more than 170 authors will visit with thousands of booklovers making connections through the love of books and the written word. Cspan has been with us since the very beginning and we are grateful for the partnership we start today by recognizing the readers to mississippi culturally a landscape. The writers trail is an ever list the places all over the state that mark significant places in the lives of mississippi authors. Ida b wells and richard ford are the very best writers. Two is famous for Investigative Journalism. And ford is famous for his novels. The hardhitting pieces about lynching of the 20th century achieve such notoriety that was known by some as the most famous black woman in america. Her marker will be placed in

Tim walch received a ph. D. In history from northwestern in 1975. After that he served in various capacities of ne National Archives and records institution part of that large organization. Until his retirement in 2011 beginning as a Program Analyst with the National Historical Public Relations commission, tim served as budget analyst, codirector of the modern archives institute, chief of Education Development before landing in west branch as assistant director of the Herbert Hoover president ial Library Museum and finally director of the same organization from 1993 to 2011. Prolific writer. He edited more than 22 books including the correspondence between hoover and eisenhower as well as numerous articles, essays, book reviews, encyclopedia entries and numerous book articles. Im bracing for this traffic and more traffic as schools start to roll into their spring break schedule, it takes a good amount of people off the roads, that is something to look forward to. Absolutely, it is going to be as a matter of fact these last few days have been lighter, people are out doing their things, michael. All right. But its still busy out there. It is going to get busier, according to a new report there is about to be a population boom along the 80 corridor. By 2040, population will grow by 29 that means more people hitting the roads. That is absolutely correct. Experts predict the number of vehicle miles will increase 27 between now and 2040.
