We met with students from alive and free, that is the dr. Marshall operation and basically we received feedback on them from our proposed or drafted know your rights brochure. We received a lot of good feedback from the youth that attended it and we plan to also engage with other groups, including some at the schools and in the city, and the Youth Commission to get feedback before we make any adjustments. There are a couple of learning points in this bill. Very good feedback to begin with but sometimes as the adults in the room, we tend to over complicate things and some of the combatant comments from some of the students or kids that we talked to is to make it simple. We are actually looking to make this brochure a little bit simpler, a little bit more userfriendly. We all get it, but the audience we really want to understand the brochure and know their rights of the youth we are engaging with. We will make this judgement after all the feedback is done. Im sure the commissioners will
Issues that have it seems like they plagued chinatown recently, and i saw those videos of one of the incidents which was i actually couldnt watch it. I started to watch it and i said i dont need to seem see an elderly person get assaulted. Is there an increase or is it that we are seeing more coverage to the media . Some of the incidents that have happened are absolutely horrific how are things trending in the central just take district, and mainly in the chinatown area overall, crime has been on the decrease in chinatown. That includes all categories except for aggravated assault, which is when i last checked, was 21 crimes yeartodate. Pretty much Everything Else has been reduced in chinatown. The Central District includes chinatown. It doesnt take away from the crimes that you are describing. They are really awful crimes. The trend is downward except for the aggravated assault. Schools throughout the county. I think thats a great question and actually gets into the last slide which is that we are really excited about improving opportunities for collaboration, and one of the things that i think would be most impactful is a grant that anna lazzic from the department of Public Health which is going to transportation road map for. Is it 100 schools . Yes. For over a hundred schools and go into the School Handbook and available to new and current parents so it will show the key transit routes. It will show the walk paths as well as bike sharing and other multimodal facilities and thats something i think we could then also incorporate into a more visible web page that we share so we have also talked about that and opportunities to make some of the great resources that we have more available, so identifying a single point of contact for sfusd and sfmta is something we identified as a key next step. We have also we have a good system of coordination in place. Just th
Commodity, so thats something that has worked very well and is a resource to principals throughout the city. This map here shows the free muni for Youth Activity by zip code. You can see over 26,000 students have enrolled in the Program Since its inception of march 2013. We extended the eligibility to include 18 year olds as well as 1922 year olds that are enrolled in sfusd education services. The Program Costs over two years in the order of 8 million. Our next challenge will be to find a stable longterm Funding Source for this program, but it is heavily used throughout the city in particular in the Southeast Quadrant as well as the north of market. We are also always trying to learn more about how students use the system. We did the transit effectiveness project which is a Systems Study in 2007 and 2008. I had the opportunity to do focus groups with students and really talk to them. We partnered with the Youth Commission so we had student facilitators so we trained the students and th
