A high-level panel has been formed to address the unequal allocation of benefits to scheduled caste communities in India. The panel, led by the cabinet secretary, will examine administrative steps to safeguard the interests of communities like the Madigas who feel they are not receiving their fair share. The committee of secretaries will convene for its first meeting on Tuesday.
The panel will seek to ensure fair allocation of benefits to the most disadvantaged communities within the Scheduled Castes, which have been overshadowed by comparatively affluent and influential groups.
