While Election Day on Tuesday marked the start of public service for many successful candidates throughout the Northwest suburbs, it also saw the retirement of George Longmeyer from more than 40 years of dedication to the Schaumburg community.
Longmeyer did not seek reelection this year to the Schaumburg Park District s board of commissioners, to which he was first appointed in March 2000.
The two decades he put on the park board followed his retirement as Schaumburg s longtime village manager. Longmeyer initially served as Schaumburg s assistant village manager from 1980 to 1986, then as village manager until 1998.

Schaumburg Mayor Tom Dailly s State of the Village address on Tuesday, Jan. 12 will take place virtually, and Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod is leaning toward that approach for his Community Update set for Wednesday, March 3.
