confront the shooters. that s the first thing that the officers will be doing. second is to establish a perimeter so that nobody gets in and out so that you don t have a situation where the shooter tries to get away. you said establish a perimeter. your phone is breaking up a little. what was the third thing? establish a perimeter around this area. so we don t know exactly the site. obviously shopping malls present a lot of places to hide, a lot of concealment. it is difficult to certainly determine who is the shooter and who are victims, who are innocent bystander, and then of course the third is to try to render care. but really the priority is to confront the shooter if it s still going on and stop the violence. that s their first priority. what s happening right now is the scene commander is setting up a joint operations center for the multiple security agencies
it sounds like it start out as a domestic, maybe a revenge-type incident and it quickly changed and his motive changed to escape. so when he went into the trader joe s he was trying to escape the police. maybe escape the police secondary. that s why he didn t go in there with a necessary plan intent to murder all the people at trader joe s and that probably goes to show us why we had a citizen engage the guy as you talked about earlier, he told the citizen to go home, the customer to go home. and then he s allowed these are customers, these five that are close to him, to attend to his wounds, maybe get some water or food or telephone, we don t know exactly but at least the report is he s interacting and helping. now it s a slow process. you want to see something. and when you re the on scene
tents or we don t see massive people being treated for wounds. so right now we don t know. we see all of the patrol cars and we see the evacuation. we know s.w.a.t. is on the scene. and the on scene commander from s.w.a.t. will have a handle. this is coral springs, broward county, broward county, s.o., i was a florida deputy and 3000 deputies. they have a top s.w.a.t. team, they re going to be able to deal with it but they ve got to get in there and locate one or more people if they re shooting inside of the school. we are going back and forth between live images and things that have just happened to give you as complete of a picture as we can get. but as you see the movement of either the s.w.a.t. team or some of the teams that were on the field with dogs, what at what point in the in this incident does this look like? there is slow movement. now obviously in many cases there could be a danger and
what does this tell you about how this investigation is being handled so far? you know, well, first i do not want to armchair quarterback, and i don t want to be perceived as being critical of the sheriff or the department. i ll just say at the outs that when you re an on scene commander you re trained to do a couple of things. one thing is to be objective, delegate and get some rest of the and i think the sheriff is overwhelmed and over wrought right now and he needs to step back and allow a spokesperson to take over at this point. as far as the details, the timeline, i m not too troubled by the detail about the six minutes. i think he s explained that away. the big one was when the original timeline was a security guard showed up after the shooting started. we now know that wasn t the case. so that now basically lays out a scenario where he didn t stop shooting because of an intervention by law enforcement. he stopped shooting for some
