Ames Tribune Scandinavian Days in Story City is back this year as a one-day event, and the motto is certainly fitting: The Year After Everything Got Spun Around. “We just kept pivoting during COVID, so I feel like it’s something we can all relate to,” said Shanon McKinley, executive director of the Story City Greater Chamber Connection. For Story City’s annual celebration, the motto has a double meaning because this year’s festivities are being held Saturday, July 24, in conjunction with National Carousel Day. The Story City Antique Carousel will be one of the major features of the celebration, with the carousel open in two-hour shifts throughout the day. The North Park area, where the 108-year-old carousel is located, is the hub of Scandi activities.
