Police filed a case against 175 people, including two councillor candidates of Tangail s Mirzapur municipality, over an attack on law enforcers after the election yesterday.
The case was filed accusing 25 named people including the councillor candidates and 150 unidentified people, Mirzapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Haque Dipu confirmed to our local correspondent.
According to locals, two councillor candidates Mintu Mia and Sazu Mia along with their supporters put barricade on a road near Amatunnesa Kindergarten Polling centre as another councillor candidate, Hafizur Rahman, was announced winner in the Mirzapur municipality election.

At least 12 people were killed and eight others injured as a train hit a bus on a level crossing near Joypurhat town yesterday morning.
The gateman had left the crossing s gate open, said police after primary investigation.
All the victims were travelling on the bus.
The accident happened in Joypurhat s Puranpoil area around 7:00am when intercity train Uttara Express from Dinajpur was on its way to Rajshahi, said police quoting locals.

At least 12 people were killed and eight others injured as a train rammed into a passenger bus at Puranapail railway crossing in Sadar Upazila of Joypurhat on Saturday morning, cutting off train communications between the northern region and other parts of the country for seven hours.
