welcome back to the lead. i m jake tapper. some breaking news in a murder mystery involving a popular priest. police say they arrested the man wanted for killing reverend eric freed and leaving his body in the church rectory. gary lee bullock is in custody. we re not sure why freed was killed but police say bullock was spotted at the church hours before the body was found. those who knew the reverend are in shock, the mayor calling his death a loss for the entire community. he was known for sharing funny, inspirational stories with his congregation at st. bernard parish, and for his deep ties to a local university, where he taught for more than a decade. joining us live is police chief andy mills. thank you so much for being here. what can you tell us about this arrest? where was bullock found? gary bullock was arrested
some say bullock s dress looked like another fashion flop of the night. we ll tell you who was wearing that one. that s coming up. you have always proven and shown that the republican party is a good party. well, that was the end of michael steele s reign as he was saying it s over for him and that he issous and reince priebus is in as the new republican chairman. his seal fell off the podium. our senior political editor mark preston is in. mark, what does the future hold for michael steele? reporter: well, don, you know, he clearly has the gift of the gab, very good with words. in fact, he was once a talking head before he became chairman of the republican national committee. i suspect we ll see him in a similar role in the next month or so. who knows what channel he ends up on, but i ll tell you what. he ll be an interesting voice to hear from as we head into the 2012 presidential elections. you know, he had his problems early on. it was a rocky tenure.
