Inbound tourism to Israel will resume May 23, 2021, initially for six countries: Cyprus, Greece, The U.K., Spain, Austria, and Germany. The pilot program’s phase 1 will begin with groups at first as they will be easier to monitor. Individual travelers are expected to be allowed in at a later stage. “After opening the economy, it is time to allow tourism in a careful and calculated manner,” Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said in a joint statement with the Tourism Ministry.

Image zoom Credit: Six Senses Shaharut While traveling to Israel isn t in the cards right now, this might also be the best time to plan a future trip. The Israel Ministry of Tourism is hopeful that the country will be able to welcome back tourists from the U.S. and Canada as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic is over. Given the number of new and exciting projects happening in the country, tourists will also be tempted to make Israel their first post-pandemic trip. First off, getting to Israel from the U.S. will be easier than ever in 2021. American Airlines recently announced the launch of a direct daily flight from JFK in New York City to Tel Aviv starting May 6, 2021, as well as a nonstop flight from Miami to Tel Aviv, three times a week beginning in June. Delta, United Airlines, and EL AL Airlines also have some daily options.
