William “Pete” Ritchey of the Saxton area, was appointed to a vacant seat on the board of Liberty Township supervisors during a special meeting held last Thursday afternoon in Stonerstown.
Residents who have not yet turned in their mail-in ballots for the spring primary election on Tuesday should now deliver them in person, according to county election officials.
Commissioner Deb Baughman, chairwoman of the county election board, said voters should drop their ballot off in-person at the county courthouse to avoid potential delivery delays through the Postal Service.
âWeâre getting close (to the election), so I recommend at this point not to mail them back,â Baughman said. âRemember, we are not accepting postmarks, so ballots must be in the courthouse by 8 p.m. (election night).â
Ballots can be returned to the elections office on the third floor of the courthouse, 200 S. Juliana St. They also can be dropped in the mail-in ballot drop box located outside the second floor entrance to the courthouse.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic regulations, members of the Changes in the Parkway (CHIP) committee announced that its annual murder mystery dinner and production of âMurder at the Coffee Shopâ has been canceled until next year.
Murder mystery committee chairman Robin Smith said the uncertainty of being able to hold the annual event at the Saxton Fire Hall prompted the committeeâs decision to cancel the event for this year. It had been scheduled for Saturday, March 13.
Smith said the committee agreed that postponing the event until later in the year might jeopardize events planned by other area groups. The committee as a whole agreed with the recommendations to postpone the event until next year.
