shepard: police in the state of delaware report tonight they have no suspects in the death of a former pentagon official. he was 66-year-old john wheeler, a retired army officer who served in both bush administrations and under president reagan. this surveillance video from late december appears to show a disoriented wheeler. but police say they don t know of any illness that would have caused him to have such behavior. the next morning, a worker at a wilmington landfill reportedly saw wheeler s body fall from a garbage truck. our senior correspondent eric shawn dispatched to investigate and live from new castle, delaware tonight. acre, investigators are hoping new clues will shed light on this. they don t have much of anything, do they. yeah, shepard, interesting clue, why was his cell phone supposedly found inside that house? that s the house across the street from where they live. the house that belongs to the neighbor that they are suing because it s too big. the house police a
him. to be able to rule this a homicide. without a crime scene, which at this point as you are saying there isn t one, i mean, how does that complicate things? it complicates things because they don t know exactly where he was murdered and maybe who did that. and so at this time they are doing very good police work. i do want to mention that because in a very short period of time they were able to short of close in on this timeline leading up to his death. and so right now we have very specific pieces of nuggets. and i can also tell you investigators are out talking to cab drivers, they are talking to people on the streets and there are more eyewitnesss that saw wheeler throughout the town prior to his death. and so being able to take those witness accounts, the surveillance tape and possibly maybe on tape somewhere there could have been the killer or killers or the persons responsible for this death. so as the hours roll on, and they are going to keep some of this in their back po
