sense of authorities in the roadway. but you can t really get a sense of the swath that one of these things cuts. talking to micah, one of the residents there across from that elementary school just moments ago. she was saying that children were still being pulled out from underneath cars at one of the elementary schools hit by this tornado. authorities had reached that specific area and offering emergency help you are talking about an area no immediate reports of injuries you had james inhofe already saying that he would be surprised looking at the damage from just the images that have come out so far that this did not lead to fatalities or serious injuries. because it s massive in scale. as janice mentioned this series of storms is going all the way across the country and could provoke and spur more twisters throughout the night as
tornadoes and tornado alley. this is pretty big and devastating. we mind you back to 1998? absolutely. may of 99. bret: 99. massive destruction. this building, this church was kind of the epicenter of the red cross. we had folks in here for about a month after the tornado we have seen this before. this is a wonderful community to rally together to get behind folks to help, to be encouraging and to provide the necessary, you know, wipes, diapers and water and everything that a person needs. because you just don t think about it hearts are heavy for our community there is a lot of good folks here who will pull together and, you know, provide the very best we can. bret: ben glover, thank you very much. the church of say your church again. it s opening. church of christ: oak
prayers going out to all those folks and we hope all those children are safe tonight. take a look at the watches because we are not over yet, unfortunately, bret. tornado watches in effect for parts of texas, including class up towards oklahoma into missouri as well as parts of illinois and kansas. some the same areas that were hard hit yesterday in shawnee, oklahoma where we saw or heard from casey stegall ef-4 went through that area winds of close to 200 miles per hour. and again some of these areas being hit again. where you see the red polygonzales on your screen those are active tornado warnings. unfortunately the threat is not over. showing you with shawnee son the map where casey stegall was that s where we had our ef-4 move through. moore is south and east of oklahoma city. this is one ever the cells that came very close or on top of moore.
we have seen a lot of volunteer nurses and emergency medical personnel trying to get down through here the best they can. we are seeing some firefighters trying to come up through this truck right here. everybody just really searching, trying to find whatever means they can to get through here, get whatever they can out of their house and find a place to stay tonight again though, many many moims damaged in the briar wood neighborhood, the elementary school at the end of this neighborhood obviously sustained a lot of damage as well. we were able to share in one family s reunion here which is always a joy to see during these absolutely tragic circumstances. we re going to stay here in the briar wood neighborhood in moore and bring you more as it becomes available. phil cross, fox 25 news. bret: that s a reporter on the ground as we have our local affiliate there kokh providing excellent coverage of the tornado there in moore, oklahoma just south of oklahoma city. we will continue to m
catastrophic tornado. bret: yeah. jeff, you have seen this before. can you characterize this on a scale how big, how damaging? looking at these pictures, it s pretty amazing to look at. this tornado track from what i understand ground report. friends digging people out of rubble south of oklahoma city. people out at the school helping with kids and i have got other people that are up there right now that are literally pulling people out of rubble in houses. super catastrophe on the south side could be up to a mile wide. i understand there is a lot of injuries. unconfirmed number of deitz. really bad. that tornado is going to be a high ef-scale. 3, 4, 5. i m hearing upwards very large. ef 4 or 5.
