good politician. i wanted to show that politics matters and that there are some good politicians. it strikes me and it s clear from title of the film that you re dealing with tragedy on a family level, on a personal level, but also nationally as a society. how did you balance those two pieces of the story? yeah. as i say, i kept filming because there kept not being an ending. i kept filming. there was the first impeachment trial and then trump was still in office and then there was the second impeachment trial. jamie just kept getting more and more involved. i kept filming and tommy had not wanted to be part of the film. i didn t have much on tommy.
that because he was on the house judiciary committee. i thought i would be following behind the scenes, quick impeachment of trump. i thought the film would be finished within a year. very different story ended up happening. the relationship between raskin and his son, tommy, clearly a central one to him, to film. how did you take care when representing that part of his story? yeah, that was just an absolutely awful time. nobody saw tommy s death coming. it was absolutely everybody was shocked. i was very worried. i was very worried about coming and kind of coming on the scene too soon after tommy had died. i was very worried about being
