Talk about a lifetime of love. Rosemary Zorzi, who has spent 82 years in Dennison, as a wife, mother, teacher and musician, says she loves her job as choir director for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, every bit as much today as she did when she first started.
Her history with the church and its music is a long one. From first grade on, she attended, and then graduated from, Immaculate Conception’s (St. Mary’s) school in 1956. In the first grade she began studying piano with the Sisters of Charity. By the sixth grade, she was able to both play the organ and sing the Latin Mass, and she began teaching other students piano and organ. In high school, she studied vocal music under the direction of June Elson, who had attended and taught at The Julliard School of Music. “We sang a lot in German and Italian,” she said, and I sang and played at a lot of weddings.”
