of ukraine in february, the majority of german gas came from russia, but that has sunk drastically over the last few months. and what germany has been doing really, particularly recently has been pushing through some quite draconian savings measures. many public buildings now only have cold water and lots of public buildings not lit up at night, as well as going to other countries to get more gas reserves, from norway, from the netherlands, from belgium. and all of this means that germany s gas reserve tanks are now more than 80% full, which is a big increase. and germany has previously said that once you get to 85% of gas reserve tanks full, germany can get through the winter without extra russian supplies. so those gas reserves are being filled faster than expected. so it s really quite a positive message coming out of berlin today, which is surprising because, of course, gas prices have been rising, as you say. but right now the government is meeting to push through a third package
