rather have the former president over the current president. it has to be a kick in the teeth, larry. but if the big guy is a unpopular, a lot of people don t want him around. it happened to george bush in 2006. the problem is bill clinton has a popularity rating right now in the 50s. if a state like kentucky, barack obama has a popularity rating somewhere in the 30s. so it s obvious why alison grimes has invited bill clinton into kentucky. the difficulty for her is, the president of the united states is not bill clinton. that was during the 1990s. the president of the united states is barack obama that s what the voters think about in november as they re voting. now, what does bill clinton get out of this? first of all, he just loves campaigning. this ex-president actually
we re now in the mid 40s touching 50%, and i m not throwing in state and other taxes. and yet you ll still hear from democrats that the rich respect paying their fair share. we get back to this what s fair argument, what s right argument. that s why i go back to my cynical point that it s very hard to make that happen. one thing i don t like about this plan, there s a lot that is really admirable about it, it almost genuflects to those on the left. look, we ve talked about this so many times. what i favor is a single rate system where everybody pays the single rate. sense you make ten times more than i do, you pay ten times more tax. that s fair to the american people and it means two people with the same income pay the same tax. right now if i live next door to you, you take the tax deducti
administration. the administration is not thinking about the families in florida. they re not thinking about our citizens that paid into medicare when they raid medicare to pay for obamacare. so it s the opposite of what the president promised. people are losing their insurance, and premiums are going up. do you agree with your colleagues, both on the right and the left, talking about governors, who have said it is very unlikely, and unrealistic that obamacare can be kid, that it can just die off? well, we clearly need to change what s happening. our system is getting hurt. it s not a good bill. it s a bad will. it s impacting families across the state. what they re saying for those in the house and the senate, republicans who think that they can kill it, you know, i think they re saying, dream on. it s not going to happen. it should happen. look, this president is not going to do it. somebody is going to fix this.
it does nothing it does not expand how a person can define what those actions might be in court. mirrors the federal law, and it merely gives people standing in court. that s why it s a technical bill. you know, senator, it s quite bigger than that, and the argument by gay rights groups is it is anti-groups and a business owner who is against gay or gay marriage, you know, sees a gay couple walk in, wants to order something, they want to refuse that couple. this bill would protect them. without it, it is deemed to be anti-gay. what do you say to that? it s deemed that way because of the opponents. but frankly, it doesn t give people the right to do anything more than they can do right now under the laws. if i run a business help
religious beliefs, you have a defense in court. you re shaking your head. of course. there s a 14th amendment to the constitution which is the bill of rights which gives people the freedom of not being discriminated against. and this basically opens the door to discrimination. flip it around, rebecca. what if the law were to enforce businesses had to do business with anti-gay groups and anti-abortion groups, that was forced? it was forced? our law now is, you cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation. so yes, a business has to do business. what if my religious views are such that i don t want to do business with them? that s business. you have a double standard.
