KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 Tras state assemblyman Chow Yu Hui was detained by the police while escorting durian farmers during a visit to a parcel of land at the centre of a legal dispute with the Pahang statement government yesterday, but has since been released on bail,

Chow was arrested in Raub, Pahang, yesterday evening under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstruction of a public servant in the discharge of his functions, the news portal said.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 The High Court in Kuantan has dismissed two leave applications for judicial review from a group of durian farmers against the Pahang state government’s “legalisation scheme” for lack of legal standing.
“The court is of the opinion that the farmers are trespassers of the said land, so they do not have the locus standi to file the challenge,” News portal

A group of more than 200 durian farmers in Pahang, who are part of an ongoing legal dispute against a private corporation looking to take over their farms, won yet another minor reprieve today when the Kuantan High Court delayed its decision for another two weeks for two similar judicial review leave applications reports www.malaymail.com
The court had previously set today to deliver its decision on the judicial review applications by the farmers, represented by the group called Save Musang King Alliance (Samka).
While postponing the decision date, the High Court also ordered for an interim stay order, that was previously granted to prohibit authorities from evicting the farmers, to be extended until December 23 as well pending its final decision.
