Thursday marked the first night of preliminary competition for Miss Tennessee. Miss Tennessee 2021 will be crowned Saturday. The winner will move on to represent the Volunteer State in the Miss America competition.  Here are three highlights and important moments you may have missed from Thursday night s preliminary competition.  Talent competition: Clogging and hula hoops The women were divided into two groups prior to competing: the tau and mu groups. The mu group spent the night grabbing the judges attention during the talent competition. Alternatively, the tau group delivered their social impact pitches and fielded questions from the judges.  Dance routines with hula hoops, jazz numbers, tapping and clogging highlighted the evening s talent competition. You read that correctly  clogging. Not only did Miss Middle Tennessee Lily Rose Steed come out with a pair of clogs, but she also brought along a lasso.
