Origami art project brightens spirits at Plymouth South High School
PLYMOUTH – Japanese tradition says that folding 1,000 origami cranes brings great luck. Some say it will even grant a wish.
For students and teachers at Plymouth South High School, that could mean an end to the COVID-19 pandemic and a return to normal days.
Art students at the school spearheaded a project that recently folded 1,000 cranes of various colors and sizes. The cranes are hanging in the main lobby of the school as a beacon and offering of hope.
Origami, the practice of folding paper, has been embraced in Japan for centuries. Cranes are a popular subject as they symbolize health and longevity, and hold the promise of good fortune.
