BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Tani Washington, a 2024 Western Kentucky University graduate in history and international affairs, has been awarded a Gaither Junior Fellowship at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
“For the People,” an advocacy group made of WKU students, staged a sit-in at the Wetherby Administration Building today in response to Kyle Rittenhouse speaking on campus for a WKU Turning Point USA event. Students arrived at 8 a.m. and took turns sharing their feelings about the “lack of response” from the university about Rittenhouse.
Under Senate and House bills introduced to the Kentucky General Assembly in January, all “discriminatory concepts” and all Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives would be banned from public universities in the state. This legislation comes as similar bills have become law across the country in states like Tennessee and Florida, the two states from where.
Dreamers from across the county braved Monday’s snow and cold to celebrate the city’s 24th Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, gathering under the theme of “It Starts With Me.”
On Monday, January 15, the eighth annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration will take place in Princeton. It will be held at noon at Central Presbyterian Church.
