After more than six months of investigating the homicide of a Wauwatosa man at Baraboo s Devil s Lake State Park, officials have no suspect and are pleading with the public for more information.
At about 11:40 a.m. Oct. 14, the Sauk County Communication Center received a report of a disturbance a possible attempted homicide on the Grottos Trail on the south side of Devil s Lake State Park.
First responders found John Craig Schmutzer, 24, deceased on the trail.
Hundreds of tips have been investigated, even more interviews have been conducted, search warrants have been executed and physical evidence has been examined, Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister said in a news release Wednesday.
