As women across the world celebrate International Women’s Day, Mercy Corps a global charity, joined Kaduna women to celebrate the day.
The Community Initiatives to Promote Peace (CIPP) program of Mercy Corps Nigeria on Monday, celebrated women in leadership across various levels of society at a special International Women’s Day event in the state.
Speaking on the theme for International Women’s Day 2021; “Women in Leadership: achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”, Sani Suleiman, the CIPP Deputy Chief of Party at Mercy Corps Nigeria, said the Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable efforts made by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Residents who sent SOS messages to media houses said the hoodlums are demanding and coercing road users to pay some amount of money before they are allowed to pass.
They revealed that such extortion, which is common in the area especially during festive seasons, has now degenerated to violence.
“This one is different. They arm-twist passersby to part with their money. This is not good. It is criminal. It is extortion. It is stealing.
“We don’t want this amongst us. It is not projecting our image positively. This is an image we are trying to build in the new Osogbo and these hoodlums are rubbishing it again.”

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has made some personnel adjustments in order to reinvigorate governance and deepen reforms in the education sector in Kaduna state. A statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Mr Muyiwa Adekeye yesterday said that the General Manager of Community and Social Development Agency(CSDA) has been removed and the Education Secretaries of all the 23 local government have been relieved of their appointments. The statement said that Mrs Saude Amina Atoyebi has been appointed as the acting General Manager of CSDA, adding that ââshe will combine this responsibility with her role as head of the State Social Investment Office until a new GM is recruited through a competitive, advertised process.ââ
