MADISON, Wis. Madison mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway is reacting to the violence at the U.S. Capitol and the attacks on the integrity of the election that preceded it.
Speaking during her weekly briefing, the mayor called the attack on the U.S. Capitol an “absolutely unprecedented assault on our democracy.”
Referencing President Donald Trump’s constant attacks on the legitimacy of Wisconsin’s election results and challenges to ballots in Dane and Milwaukee Counties, Rhodes-Conway reiterated that the city’s election results were accurate and legitimate.
“Prior to the armed invasion of the Capitol, the President of the United States attacked Wisconsin’s, specifically Madison’s, election integrity,” said Rhodes-Conway. “Our election was conducted just as it always has been with professionalism, integrity and multiple levels of oversight and accountability.”
