Vaccination was seamless and well-organized | News, Sports, Jobs

From Jo-Ann and Richard Clark: Thank you to our public health department and its Health Officer Michael Snyder. We received our COVID vaccine at Bay College on Monday, January 11. The process of registering and being vaccinated was seamless and well-organized. The staff were courteous, efficient, and professional. We have read about the confusion and frustration people have faced in other states as they try to access the vaccine. We are so thankful that our state distributed the vaccine quickly. After we read the health department’s press release about the vaccine being available to those 65 and older, we immediately scheduled an appointment. Thank you Public Health Delta & Menominee Counties.

Say thank you to law enforcement | News, Sports, Jobs

From Menominee County Sheriff Mike Holmes: In 2015, multiple organizations created National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. It is a day to show appreciation to law enforcement officers, and recognition for the difficult and sometimes impossible career they have chosen. With the added stress of COVID-19 this year, our officers have risen to the challenge, adding equipment and measures to keep themselves and the public healthy and safe. To show your support for our deputies, you can: Wear blue clothing in support of law enforcement. Send a card of support to your local agencies. Give blood in the national Blue Blood Drive. Shine blue lights from your home. Take treats or lunch to a local department. If you see a police officer, deputy or trooper, thank them! Each day they serve to protect citizens and it’s time to say thank you!

I would also like to thank all the community members that took the time to come to the blood drive to donate blood and “give the gift of life.” Because of your generosity, we received enough blood to potentially save 27 lives across the Upper Peninsula.
