Google decided to honour renowned Indian scientist Udupi Ramachandra Rao on his 89
th birth anniversary through a Google Doodle on Wednesday. Professor Rao is remembered by many as “India’s Satellite Man”.
Rao, who died in 2017, was a space scientist and chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He was the one who supervised the launch of India’s first satellite “Aryabhata” in 1975.

Google on Wednesday honored one of India s greatest scientists, who is also remembered as Satellite Man , with a doodle.
Google celebrated the 89th birth anniversary of professor and scientist Udupi Ramachandra Rao, who was an Indian space scientist and former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
Rao was born in a remote village of Karnataka in 1932. He received his primary education at Adamaru and went on to complete his B.SC. in Govert Arts and Science College, Anantpur. For his higher studies, he went to Banaras Hindu University and completed his M.Sc. Rao did his Ph.D. at the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad under the guidance of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai.

Google is celebrating the 89th birthday of renowned Indian professor and scientist Udupi Ramachandra Rao today, remembered by many as India s Satellite Man. Professor Rao, who died in 2017, was an Indian space scientist and chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Born in a remote village of Karnataka on this day in 1932, Prof Rao began his career as a cosmic-ray physicist and protege of Dr Vikram Sarabhai, a scientist widely regarded as the father of India s space program. After completing his doctorate, Prof Rao brought his talents to the US, where he worked as a professor and conducted experiments on NASA s Pioneer and Explorer space probes, the description on Google Doodle s website reads.
