According to a presentation by Bhargava, Starlink Country Director, India at SpaceX, it hopes to have 200,000 Starlink devices in India by December 2022.
One of the richest businessmen in the world is looking forward to providing satellite internet to the consumers. Elon Musk has been a part of this for a long time whereas Jeff Bezos is all set to join the movement. The telecom giant Bharti Airtel has also decided to step in and provide satellite internet. With all the powerful businesses stepping in, we can assume that the satellite internet is a big and a serious business. Elon Musk has launched the satellite internet service by the name of Musk’s Starlink; however, it is currently in the beta mode and it is being offered to very few customers in some countries. Bharti Airtel has announced that they will start the services from next year.
Sanjay Bhargava also mentioned that Starlink's target in India is to have more than 2 lakh terminals active by December 2022. More than 5000 terminals have been preordered in India till now.
