COVID-19 in B C : Near-record hospitalized cases; 28 flight exposures; 18 deaths; surge at Sun Peaks; and more

by Craig Takeuchi on April 12th, 2021 at 5:35 PM 1 of 2 2 of 2 The new COVID-19 case count remained above the 1,200 mark for a third consecutive day on April 10. Although new case counts were lower on subsequent days over the weekend, those numbers remain at high levels in comparison to previous months. At today’s briefing, B.C provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry once again emphasized that everyone should remain in their “immediate neighbourhood as much as possible” and shouldn’t be travelling outside of their municipality, unless it is essential. For example, she said people in the Lower Mainland should not travel to Vancouver Island; those in Penticton should not go Kelowna, Oliver, or Sun Peaks; and those in North Vancouver shouldn’t be going to Richmond or Langley.
