Jim passed away on May 2, 2023. His life was full of love, adventure, family, and friends. Jim was born on April 11, 1948, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He grew up on Ottertail Lake with his mother, father, and three brothers. Jim was 12 years old when he went on a float plane ride at the Lake, and his lifelong love of flying began. Jim graduated from Perman High School, Perman, Minnesota in 1966. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Minnesota. There, he met Evy, his wife of 53 years, and they were married on August 9, 1969. He went on to join the Air Force and was stationed at Williams Air Force base for pilot training. He later became an instructor on the T-38 trainer jet and the F-5 fighter jet. Their son, Ryan Patrick, was born on January 23, 1977. Jim was honorably discharged from the Air Force and his family moved to Colorado in 1978. Their daughter, Tayler Min Dae, arrived from Seoul in April of 1982.
