TOKYO – New coronavirus cases continued to appear at relatively high levels in Japan’s two largest urban areas, but the U.S. military reported only three new infections between 6 p.m. Friday and the same time Monday. Sasebo Naval Base, on Kyushu island in southern Japan, had three people test positive Friday, the base announced via Facebook on Monday. One person fell ill with symptoms of COVID-19, the coronavirus respiratory disease, and two were close contacts of previously identified COVID-19 patients.
