QUETTA: Employees of the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) have protested against what they claimed the Balochistan government’s plan to take over the precious land of Radio Pakistan and close some programmes from the Sariab transmitter.
A large number of the protesting employees, led by PBC’s United Staff Organisation chairman Ahmed Nawaz Niazi, gathered outside the PBC building here on Friday, carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands. The protesters chanted slogans against the government and marched on roads.
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has said that the thinking of the present government about development of the province is different from that of previous governments. The government is utilising all its resources to bring the province on a par with other provinces of the country.
Speaking at a ceremony held to the mark completion of phase-1 of Sabzal Road by-pass project on Friday, he said that all under-construction roads in Quetta would be converted into dual carriageways, which would help ease traffic congestion.
Home Minister Ziaullah Langove, Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Khan Musakhail, Commissioner of Quetta Asfandyar Kakar and others were present on the occasion.
