SARATOGA SPRINGS The City Council has given city property owners an additional 60 days to make their quarterly tax payments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The payment that would normally be due on March 1 won’t be due until May 1, and the remaining quarterly payments will also be delayed for 60 days, with no late payment penalty imposed. People who pay their property taxes in full by March 1 will still receive a 2.25 percent discount on their tax bill, as has been past practice.
The payment extension is part of the city’s response to the economic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has left some families and businesses strapped for the cash to make tax payments.
