Nirapad Sarak Chai today protested and condemned the alleged threat of boycotting its chairman Ilias Kanchan that transport leader and lawmaker Shajahan Khan made yesterday.
Shajahan Khan, acting president of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation, at a programme of the federation s Rajshahi regional committee yesterday made indecent and false comments against Ilias Kanchan, said the platform campaigning for road safety in a statement today.
Besides, Shajahan, also a ruling party lawmaker, threatened to boycott the actor turned road safety crusader, reads the statement.

Although the number of road crashes have somewhat decreased, largely due to pandemic-induced restrictions on public transport, motorcycle accidents witnessed a sharp rise in 2020 compared to the previous year.
At least 4,969 people were killed and 5,058 were injured in 4,092 different types of accidents last year, according to road safety campaign Nirapad Sarak Chai. People killed in rail and riverine incidents were also included here.
