IGP takes notice of six girls’ rape

LHORE: The IGP Punjab has taken notice of six girls’ rape in Sarai Mughal, Pattoki.
He has sought a report from Sheikhupura RPO Dr Inam Waheed Khan. Following the IGP’s directions, Dr Inam visited Sarai Mughal and met the victims.
Meanwhile, the police launched a manhunt and managed to arrest the real culprit.
The accused was produced before the girls who also identified him. During the course of inquiry, Dr Inam found the SHO, Sarai Mughal, negligent with regard to handling the case in accordance with the law and suspended him.

KASUR: Scores of villagers of Sarai Mughal on Friday staged a protest demonstration against, what they said, police failure to register cases and arrest the rapists of minor girls.
Six girls between 5 and 15 years were allegedly raped or subjected to rape attempts during the last one month.
Panic prompted the locals to gather outside the Sarai Mughal police station and voice concern at the rising number of rape cases. The protesters also blocked the road by putting burnt tyres and threw traffic out of gear, saying police neither registered cases nor arrested any of the suspects.

A 53-year-old man was arrested for raping his 10-year-old niece in Kasur’s Pattoki, the police said on Monday.
On December 11, the suspect, identified as Muhammad Younis, took his niece out saying that they were going to get garlic from the nearby fields. When they didn’t return after over three hours, the 10-year-old’s family went out in search of them.
“When we reached to the fields, I heard the cries of my daughter,” the survivor’s mother said. “We caught Younis raping my daughter red-handed. He fled when he saw us,” she said.
