Beachgoers will have to wait until at least next summer to grab a beer at a new container bar proposed at Bradford Beach in Milwaukee.
The beach’s food and beverage operator Dock Bradford LLC wants to expand service to the upper deck of the historic beach house building, but it looks like that won’t happen in time for this summer season.

The Lake Michigan coastline of Milwaukee County is one of the area’s defining features.
The nine or so miles of coastline are the site of bluffs and ravines, wetlands, woodlands, rivers, streams, important habitats for flora and fauna and, yes, urban development.
Storms and high lake levels have always posed a threat to coastal assets, but climate change has the potential to increase storm severity, according to a report from Milwaukee County Parks.

After three people drowned at McKinley Beach in 2020, Milwaukee County officials are working on an emergency study of the water and beach conditions to improve safety for swimmers.
“Obviously McKinley Beach has been on the forefront of our minds since summer,”
There were also several near drownings at the beach in summer 2020. Following the third drowning, parks closed the beach. A report from the Parks Department states that at the time of the closure there were riptide conditions occurring at the beach.
