Four backcountry skiers in their 20s died when one of the deadliest avalanches in Utah history hit a popular backcountry skiing area, police said Sunday.
Louis Holian, 26, Stephanie Hopkins, 26, and Thomas Louis Steinbrecher, 23, were all Salt Lake City residents. Sarah Moughamian, age 29, was from Sandy.
Four survivors, all men ages 23 to 38, were able to dig themselves out and were later hoisted off the mountain by Life Flight helicopters none of them with life-threatening injuries.
