From my high school, thered only been one other minority accepted to princeton before i got there and he was asianamerican, chinese in fact, still a dear friend of mine. He is the one who called me and i described the call in my book and said sonia you have to apply to ivy league colleges. I said, what are those . You have to read my book to understand my background and the fact that i just wasnt familiar with the ivy league schools. My College Applications were , after he called me harvard, yale, princeton, columbia, City University as my safety, and Stony Brook State University which is where i thought i was going. That is how unsophisticated my knowledge was back then. So why was princeton or why did and nott kinney and me any of the other kids from my high school . We were in the minority in our high school but this was the era in which institutions in the country were understanding that civil rights meant not
