The doubled sided Element 1200 DS gas fireplace by Real Flame, becomes a sculptural element sitting on top of a low timber-topped plinth. Wellington-based interior designer Charlotte Minty prefers centring the fireplace: “This creates symmetry and a focal point for the space, while allowing furniture to be easily located nearby. It also opens up opportunities to finish the surroundings around the fireplace – for example built-in shelving on both sides, which helps create balance.
